Hurricane Helene Hits the National Alliance
by Kevin Alfred Strom
UPDATE 9 October: Electricity and Internet connectivity have been restored and normal operations are resuming. Thank you for your patience!
HURRICANE/TROPICAL STORM HELENE left a path of devastation across the South and Appalachia, including Upper East Tennessee where the National Alliance and Cosmotheist Books offices, and our community, are located.
First of all: Everyone is all right.
But there is no electric power, no Internet, and no cell service (unless you climb a mountain to get a signal from a distant tower, as one of our staff has done to get this information to me). Some towns in the area are totally isolated, cut off from automobile travel. The roof of the local post office has collapsed and a temporary, mobile post office has been put into limited service.
So: Book orders will be delayed days, perhaps weeks — but will be filled. Correspondence, emails, and telephone calls may not be answered promptly, and the production and mailing of our printed monthly BULLETIN will be delayed.
Thank you very much for your understanding!

Thanks for the report, Kevin. We’re all OK here at the National Office. Incommunicado for ten days but the electricity is now back on along with the Internet, phones, and I’ve finally been able to start writing the September BULLETIN. It will take me a while to catch up after the delay. Members and book customers please be patient.
Helene was a “100-year storm, but it is just weather. We deal with it, Trees were down over our Alliance property, but no buildings hit, unlike with many of our neighbors’. Fortunately, we occupy high ground.
