This Day in History: 1938-04-10
1938: German voters, after five years of National Socialism, vote overwhelmingly (over 99 per cent.) to keep Hitler’s extremely popular party in power. On the same day, the vast majority of Austrians vote to reunite with Germany. Giving the lie to those who claim the votes were coerced, Germans and Austrians living in Great Britain also support National Socialism and its policies by a nearly identical margin.
