1865: Rudyard Kipling, the great English author and poet, is born in Bombay. Kipling, a racialist, would author such works as A Song of the White Men and The Stranger, and would adopt the ancient Aryan sign of the swastika as his personal symbol, which is prominently featured in many editions of his works published during his lifetime.
