The situation in NY state is ghastly. Currently, there’s a 2% death rate. (1550/75000), which is much higher than some other states, like PA’s 1.23% (74/6000). This may be blamed partially on insufficient testing, which if corrected could raise the number of total cases (but generally not deaths) and lower the rate. And, NYers might dread their hospital system much more than patients in other states, so aren’t reporting to the horrendous ER’s until their cases have advanced to the point that testing is directed but death unavoidable. It’s clear that NYC is the nation’s epicenter. So where was NYC’s savvy?
