More on the Myth of Phiona Mutesi’s Skill as a Chess Player

by David Sims

I’M POSTING THIS AGAIN in expanded form because it provides insight into the blatant racial-intellectual fraud that is often perpetrated by Blacks, or, as in this case, on their behalf by the Jews and leftists who both control the mass media and promulgate endless hoaxes about racial equality.

The controlled media elevate Blacks to celebrity status when they display the most modest talent. There’s a young Ugandan female who is being touted as a world-class chess champion, though she is no such thing. She’s merely a better chess player than most Blacks are.

Born in the Katwe area of the Ugandan capital of Kampala about 1995, where she still lives, Phiona Mutesi has won many chess competitions against other Blacks. She has been Uganda’s women’s junior champion in chess three times and is currently ranked as the second-best female Ugandan chess player.

But Blacks are very much humanity’s “little leagues” in regard to mental ability.

No Black country has ever won a medal in the international Chess Olympiads. Through its entire history, since the 1920s, all of the gold, silver, and bronze medals for chess have been awarded mostly to White players and, once in a while, to an Asian.

Yet the Hollywood Jews are going to make a propaganda movie about the “great African chess player,” Phiona Mutesi.

An American author, Tim Crothers, wrote a book entitled The Queen of Katwe, wherein he hyped Phiona’s chess skills. The Walt Disney Company, a media conglomerate that has been owned and operated by Jews since 1984, bought the rights to make a movie based on Crothers’ book. And you can predict, more or less, how it will go.

Chess is a game in which players have titles, the highest of which is Grandmaster. But there are fixed standards for all of the game’s titles, even the lesser ones.

In the 2012 Chess Olympiad’s women’s division in Istanbul, the International Chess Federation saw fit to do a very long reach-down in order to bestow upon Phiona Mutesi the title of Woman Candidate Master. If Phiona weren’t Black, this would be called a cheat and an insult to anyone who acquired that same title by earning it through skilled play.

Normally, a Candidate Master of Chess must have an Elo rating of 2200 to 2299. The title accorded to Phiona Mutesi is a different title: “Woman Candidate Master of Chess.” The requirement for that title is an Elo rating of only 2000. But, even so, the ICF did a reach-down to grant that title to her.

Phiona’s Elo rating peaked at 1686 in the year 2013, and it has since declined to 1622 (checked on 22 August 2016). Perhaps the ICF justifies the decision by the hope that it will promote chess in Africa. Or maybe it was just another example of how Political Correctness corrupts sports.

Paul Cowen, a commenter upon an effusive article on Phiona in The Guardian, observed that Phiona’s chess Elo rating sets her equal to “an average-to-weak club player.” Which means that if you hardly ever play chess yourself, Phiona might be able to beat you, but if you know what you are doing, you’ll probably beat her.

And, remember, she’s one of the best chess players in Uganda.

Now here’s the truth. Phiona Mutesi is a better chess player than are most Blacks of pure blood. African Blacks have an average IQ of 70, and Fiona might possibly have an IQ above 100. That would make her quite a standout over there. But not in the United States, and not in the United Kingdom, and not in Germany, and not in Russia.

Compare Phiona Mutesi with her White counterpart, Judit Polgár of Hungary. At the age of 12 (in 1989), Polgár had an Elo rating of 2555, which made her the 55th best chess player in the world, by that measure. Afterward, Polgár continued to rise in Elo ranking to a maximum of 2735, making her the best female chess player of all time and putting her name on the short list of the greatest chess grandmasters in history.

By contrast, Phiona Mutesi’s ICF ranking was number 79957 in 2013 and has since slipped to 91039 (checked on 22 August 2016). She’s good enough, maybe, to play in your local chess club with a decent chance of winning half of her games.

Phiona Mutesi isn’t anywhere nearly as formidable a chess player as any White chess champion, and the controlled media of news and entertainment do practice deceit when they present her as though she were in any sense on the same level as a White chess champion.

You’d think that Disney would want to make a movie about Judit Polgár, who is a much better chess player. But they don’t. Disney is abetting and amplifying a race-hoax, using Phiona Mutesi as a patsy.

As I said last week: I know that posts like this one sound petty. And, in a sense, they are petty. Phiona Mutesi doesn’t deserve to be disparaged for playing chess as best she can. But neither does she deserve the elevation that the controlled media are giving her. I don’t criticize her personally because she has not been making the excessive claims about her skill. However, others have been erecting pedestals that she isn’t fit to stand on. I have been knocking these over, and I will continue doing it.

If you want to keep tabs on Phiona Mutesi’s actual merit as a chess player, her page on the International Chess Federation’s website is here:

https://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?event=10000399

This pretty much sums up the situation:

Phiona Mutesi’s world rank:
World (all players): 175486
World (active players): 91039
Female (active players): 5407

Phiona Mutesi’s national rank for Uganda:
National (all players): 52
National (active players): 35
Female (active players): 3

She’s a big fish only when you consider that she inhabits a very small pond.

I want you to see a pattern — which I demonstrate below — because it is important and very reliably consistent across the entire range of intellectual endeavor.

On one hand, we have this rating comparison, for colleges:

US Ranking for engineering program —
Georgia Tech: #3
Auburn University: #36
Morehouse College: #1015

Morehouse College’s ranking among black colleges: #4

Morehouse College is a small not-for-profit Black college offering many disciplines along with engineering programs and located in Atlanta, Georgia. This school was founded in 1867 and is currently offering certificates and bachelor’s degrees in 2 engineering programs. Major competitors for this college are Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and Auburn University in Auburn.

On the other hand, we have these ratings for various chess players:

Elo Rating and FIDE world ranking as an active chess player —
Magnus Carlsen, Norway. World’s best chess player.
Elo rating: 2857
FIDE Rank: #1 in the world.
Note: yes, he’s White.

Garry Kasparov, Russia. Russia’s best chess player.
Elo rating: 2812
FIDE rank: #3 in the world (also #3 in Europe)

Judit Polgár, Hungary.
Elo rating: 2675 (current)
FIDE rank: #67 in the world (and #48 in Europe)

Andrew Kayonde, Zambia, Africa’s very best Black chess player.
Elo rating: 2422
FIDE world rank: #1728
Note: there are 12 chess players in Africa who are better than Kayonde, but most of them are Arabs (one of them is White), and none of them is Black.

Nicholas Checa, USA, White, age 12.
Elo rating: 2405
FIDE world rank: #2061

Arthur Ssegwanyi, Uganda, the country’s very best chess player.
Elo rating: 2365
FIDE world rank: #3001

Phiona Mutesi, Uganda. Celebrity status created by the media.
Elo rating: 1622
FIDE World rank: #91039
Note: Disney is making a movie about her.

What do the two comparisons have in common? What do both of them show?

For one thing, the very best Black African chess player is only a wee little bit better than some 12-year-old White boy whose daddy won’t let him spend a lot of time on chess because he must study his lessons for school.

Also, both comparisons show that it is one thing to be “good for a Black,” yet it is quite another thing to achieve a competitive degree of competence among Whites.

Also, and most importantly, the mass media can attribute fame and bestow accolades that are by far in excess of what is merited by the individual in question, and most of us won’t bother to check as to whether the praise and the notoriety are really deserved. The Jewish media bosses control entire countries by this principle.

I will suggest the author fund a true International competition among all the youth of the world at say maximum of 10 years. This would make a better comparison of mental ability of blacks in chess more object. Most white Grandmasters work on chess full-tim and it would be unfair to compare a Third World candidate playing at fairly high level on a partial basis.

Do blacks have any traditional board games of their own? I have seen them playing a sort of backgammon with dice on a board for money, which looked like it excited them. However, this really may have just been a die game, possibly from Asia or early European games. It seems highly unlikely that blacks have any sort of authentically African game of their own.

I occasionally see books pitched at student and business readers in which the pictures have obviously been selected according to politically correct criteria: for example, one will see a Black wearing a suit in a corporate boardroom, or a Black using a laptop computer. Apparently the expectation is that such pictures will make readers think that Blacks are clever. For my part, the image of a chimpanzee riding a bicycle pops up in my head whenever I see such pictures. As George Lincoln Rockwell wrote of Blacks nearly fifty years ago in White Power: “You can put fancy clothes on them, send them to Harvard, teach them to play the harp, teach them to work a computer, and even teach them to be a ‘Ph.D.’ But they will still be… Read more »

The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has more than one set of criteria for awarding chess titles. The criterion that is most nearly fair is the world Elo rating for standard chess. According to this method, a chess player must have these minimum Elo ratings for the indicated titles: Woman Candidate Master, 2000 Woman FIDE Master, 2100 Candidate Master, 2200 FIDE Master, 2300 International Master, 2400 Grand Master, 2500 In addition, some titles require that a player gain a certain number of “norms” (or favorable results) in a competition involving other players at or above his own title level. There are a few other standards, which are more vulnerable to improper manipulation or to the “big fish in a small pond” effect. One of them is for excellent performance in single… Read more »

No reader of National Vanguard here will be surprised, espcially David Sims, but this link is the latest article on the “prodigy” chessplayer from Uganda. She’s actually nothing of the sort:

I don’t argue with the article in whole, but I thought you should know at least one of your statements is factually wrong, which people can use to undermine your position.

You say: “Note: there are 12 chess players in Africa who are better than Kayonde, but most of them are Arabs (one of them is White), and none of them is Black.”

Google “black grandmaster” and click on the wikipedia article for Amon Simutowe. He is a black sub-Saharan-African who spent his first 20-years growing up in Zambia. He is a real grandmaster and is higher rated than Kayonde.

Kayonde is younger and from Zambia, too. Maybe Simutowe was a role-model for him and why Zambia has the best black African players.

I didnt waste my time reading your comment because you would miss what I have to say; I believe you have a genetic hatred about the coloured people or blacks in particular but thats not your problem alone see have you ever wondered why most white people feel very insecure around blacks simply because they owe them something. Simple terms you feel they are your only competition and true indeed, but ask yourself this why is it easy to turn white into black but you can not change black into white. Check you history right maybe your disrespecting your fathers Just like a little childs mind when he grows up he thinks his wiser than his parents hahahaha and who approves that ingenious research of who has the highest IQ,… Read more »

She is elevated because of her background. She started chess before school, chess bought her family a home. She use to practice with a chess board where the pieces were bottle tops while the others you are comparing her too had laptops and established chess clubs to help them with their game. Despite your claims, Phiona is a hero to many and will continue being. Plus, our average iq at 70, naah, it’s a 100 too. Am African, I know.

What a pity! Your mindset is just like that of Chimpanzee riding a bicycle. Your analysis makes no sense because it lacks both qualitative and quantitative reasoning. you’re comparing those that had everything it takes in Chess to a poor girl that rose above her obstacles despite her lack in all spheres of life except in HIGH IQ. Your hatred for blacks is quite disgusting. Eww!

I cant believe there is sooo much racism and hatred in this world. There is no color in this world we are all human beings, no matter what your skin looks like, what your religion, culture, language, ethnicity, …is.
We are all made out of the same nobody is superior and this article reflects on white people being superior to black, what a garbage article. What a waste. This should not even be allowed to be published.

Notice how the above commentator appears to be mired in self-referential, emotional, moralistic, and wishful thinking. Notice how he and those who take the same position parrot egalitarian clichés and lies about everybody being the same, how we are all beautiful and unique snowflakes, how we is all god’s chillun, etc. Notice how the advocates of tolerance are so quick to demand censorship of everybody who disagrees with them.

Perhaps these neurotic jerks, if they’re White, should be dragged out from their “safe spaces” and dispatched to places like Zimbabwe, Liberia, or Somalia.

To judge by the comments above mine, I’d say there isn’t a whole lot of ability on the part of these people to realize the point of the story: that there is a fraud being perpetrated here. By elevating a less-competent black above better qualified chess players for a movie, there is a distortion of reality thrust upon the minds of people who would likely watch film-based propaganda.

That this theme (blacks being as good as or even better than anyone else in every sphere–especially intellectual ones) is played out far too often and so consistently that it does make better minds think about what is going on and why.

I tried to figure this out in a fair matter, and it’s not that simple I can see her actual matches at the Olympiad, and she did fairly well. She drew against opponents in the 1700-1800 range. Her wins were against players in the 1500 range, or zero ( which makes no sense, they should have had provisional ratings – someone would have to know more about those zeros than I do, to explain it.) I would not have thought someone could play the games she did at 1600 rating or so, and achieve 2000. However, I thought that perhaps there’s some tournament specific rating, and that could have been over 2000. But I could not find details. I think she’s done quite well for herself, given her background, but… Read more »

She may have received an automatic WCM via scoring 50% at the chess Olympiad in Turkey. People suggested this on a chessgames web site, and that would explain how she had a WCM title, without holding the base rating of 2000.

It says she’s ranked in the top 5300 of all active woman’s players, which is not bad IMO. Obviously her note worthy status is her background. I am glad for her, if chess improved her life. Why hate on her just because some media outlets give into hype – that’s the media for you.

The Jews destroyed chess. They play for draws. Bobby Fischer was repulsed by Jews cheating and playing prearranged games at tournaments. It took Fischer 2 years to uncover the prearranged world championship between Karpov and Kasparov. Fischer was the best chess player in the world all through the 1960s, but didn’t win the world until 1972 because he was brother-in-lawed by Jews at tournaments (prearranged games).

This seems a racist article about this girl. Just because of its color of skin, doesn’t mean that she is more intelligent or more stupid. I think that she is an example of what hard-work means and a story that really self-motivates. I am not saying that Judith Polgar’s story isn’t self-motivating or the one from the 12 year old guy from the US.
It is really racist of you, the author, writing this article. I hope that this site deletes it.
