Relatedness — and the Encyclopedia — Prove Evolution Is Real

by Kevin Alfred Strom

A CREATIONIST MIGHT NOT acknowledge that he is related to a chimp, but he probably would admit that he is related to his own mother. “After all,” he might say, “obviously I share 50 per cent. of my genes with her.”

But that estimate is wildly off the mark. Actually, he shares more than 99.9 per cent. of his genes with her — because, in addition to the obvious one-half direct ancestry, he shares almost all of his ancestry with her in common, because both his parents share almost identical common ancestry too. Go back a few dozen centuries, and they’re practically all the same people.

Common ancestry is the only rational explanation, and it is the full explanation, for the near-total agreement between the gene-patterns of father, mother, and child.

Common ancestry is also the only reasonable explanation for the astonishingly high degree of genetic similarity between humans and other mammals.

The genetic similarity of a man and a mouse, for example, is about 92 per cent.

It is as if you had a hypothetical 100-volume set of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, with each volume consisting of 1,000 pages of very small type on onionskin paper, 100,000 pages in all — and then compared it to another, unknown, encyclopedia, and discovered that its first 92,000 pages were absolutely identical to those in the Britannica (to say nothing of the fact that the remaining 8,000 pages had a lot of similarities too).

Could that be a random coincidence? Could the two encyclopedias have just by some sort of luck, or by the very nature of encyclopedia-writing, turned out to be that similar? I don’t think so. It should be obvious to anyone not inebriated by Maury Povich, Benny Hinn, or Jack Daniels that one was derived from the other — or that both were derived from a common source.

Mice and men share so many — almost all, in fact — of our genes because we share many, many common ancestors.

Common genes equals common ancestors.

The percentage of genes we share with other species is a measure of how many common ancestors we share with them — and that itself is a measure of how long ago we diverged from them.

Bearing that relationship in mind, consider that we share 44 per cent. of our genes in common with fruit flies — 26 per cent. with yeast — and almost 20 per cent. in common with a grain of wheat.

That is proof — as absolute as it is possible to get in this imperfect world — that there was a time, long long ago, when our ancestors, and wheat’s ancestors, were the same species.

For even in a case where “only” the first twenty volumes of the encyclopedia — 20,000 pages — were word-for-word identical with our Britannica, who would be so foolish as to say they had no common source?

Listen: Turner Diaries commercial

OUR NEW, remastered audio book edition of The Turner Diaries read by the author, Dr. William Pierce, is now available. You can get your copy now — the CDs are are shipping as soon as orders come in.

The original recordings, made by Dr. Pierce and Kevin Strom on reel-to-reel tape in 1995, had been digitized in the early 2000s, but that digitization process was primitive compared to what we are capable of today; we have remastered this important work using the latest software — and we did it the careful, slow, difficult, craftsman-like way — the way Dr. Pierce would have wanted it.

We are proud to offer you the result, which can be ordered online via http://natall.com/td or by postal mail from National Alliance, Box 172, Laurel Bloomery TN 37680 USA. The fidelity of the disc is excellent: On a good speaker system, it sounds as if Dr. Pierce is with you, reading his book to you personally. There is nothing quite like hearing the man who created The Turner Diaries read it to you himself. And, by purchasing this mp3-CD, you will be supporting the important work of the National Alliance.

    Dear Kevin,
This article by you proves the exact opposite of what you
    are trying to prove.
The evidence you cite proves a common designer. There is
absolutely no evidence of one kind of animal evolving into
    another kind.
It’s been more than 150 years since Darwin wrote his book
and no intermediary species have ever been found as Darwin
predicted. This proves he was wrong.
To have life, one needs matter, energy and most importantly, INFORMATION, ie DNA. Information presupposes
an intelligence to create the information. Information can
    not create itself.
It is our worst enemies that push the “evolution theory”.
Look at the destructive effect it has had on our society.
A philosophy based on a falsehood can only lead to disaster.
Many scientists with PhD’s in biology and geolology no longer
believe in evolution. The evidence for “creationism” is overwhelming. The “flood” really did occur, the Grand Canyon
is proof of that. Also,if the human population is 7 billion
and doubles every 50 years, simple math extrapolating backwards shows us that our current civilization can only be
    about 4000 years old.
If the Earth were billions of years old, there would be
millions of fossils showing the intermediary stages, but there
are not. Go to Answers in Genesis to get the other side of the debate, the future of everyone is at stake. Only the truth can set us free from our enemies.

      Dear Mike:

Viruses and bacteria evolve all the time, noticeably so in the course of a year or two, and such evolution is the bane of the medical field. Insects can evolve rapidly too, and such evolution in fruit flies is the basis for much genetic research. And just look at the de-evolution (which is a kind of evolution) of modern man. Furthermore, we now know beyond any doubt that gene-patterns change over time, and there is no known magic that could hold such changes to within the limits of our artificially-constructed “species boundary” concept.

Another simple way to see that evolution is real is to look at the fossil record of, say, the Cambrian period. Many creatures that lived then no longer exist. And creatures that exist now, some of which indubitably would have left records in Cambrian deposits if they had existed at that time, show no trace. So it is slam-dunk obvious that either 1) some of the Cambrian creatures evolved into the creatures that exist today, or 2) modern creatures were thrown overboard from UFOs or passing angel-chariots some time between the Cambrian period and now.

I agree that there might be a force behind it all, even a “designer,” but holding onto the idea of “Jehovah” and the preposterous and mutually contradictory tales of Jewish “Scripture” is just a psychological reaction to being taught such things at a very young age, when one is extremely trusting and tracks are laid down in the brain that are quite difficult, though not impossible, to erase.

Right the building blocks are the same but antique farm equipment’s not the same as a skyscraper or a jet. Different is different. When the liberal geneticists are telling us we’re related to land sharks they’re only looking at a silhouette of structure & not the real substance.
